Diagnostic predictors of necrotizing enterocolitis in preterm infants

Abstract

The aim of the study: Is to determine the significance of the NİRS and claudin-3 indicators in the early diagnosis of necrotizing enterocolitis in preterm infants with suspected of NEC without signs of perinatal encephalopathy. Materials and methods:
The study included 56 preterm infants with suspected of NEC without signs of perinatal encephalopathy. The control group consisted of 30 apparently healthy premature infants. Results: The results of our study showed that NİRS indicators in preterm
infants with suspected of NEC, without signs of perinatal encephalopathy, were statistically significantly different from those in the control group (p<0.001). There was also strong statistical significance between claudin-3 scores (p=0.000).
