Abstract

Obesity is now a pandemic and the next decades will see a further increase in the prevalence of this disease. The sad fact is that this trend affects not only adults, but also children and adolescents. The aim of the study was to investigate the features and incidence of clinical manifestations of obesity in adolescent girls. Material and methods of the study One hundred adolescent girls with I-II stage obesity aged 13-17 years participated in the study. Conclusion Childhood obesity entails high risks of early onset of severe comorbid conditions, which reduces life expectancy and increases premature mortality at working age. Psychological problems and bullying in childhood communities play a special role in the formation of a vicious circle of further weight gain, which is exacerbated in the absence or insufficient medical care.
