Abstract

Antenatal care must directly or indirectly address a range of problems during pregnancy to meet the needs of pregnant women, including malaria, malnutrition, STIs, HIV and tuberculosis. During antenatal care, the doctor should provide the necessary information and advice on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period, including caring for the newborn. The most effective way to do this is through the integration of programs and the availability of comprehensive health services. An effective antenatal care package depends on authori-zed healthcare providers in the healthcare system that operate referral services, as well as the necessary equipment and laboratory support.
