Complications of twin pregnancy and management tactics

Abstract

The article presents the results of an analytical review of available data on complications of twin pregnancy and management tactics. The main complications of twin pregnancy: preterm birth/ delivery, low birth weight of the newborn, retardation of fetal development, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, placental abruption; fetal death/loss, caesarean section. Pregnancy with twins is associated with many problems and controversies. Efforts to standardize diagnostic criteria and reporting results,
as well as the development of national and international practice guidelines, will help improve research and clinical practice. The global binary and multiple prioritization partnership also identified the most pressing research uncertainties identified by both physicians and pregnant women. However, more rigorous studies in the form of randomized control studies or large well-conducted cohort studies are still needed to resolve many of these controversies, provide optimal care, and further improve the outcomes of twin pregnancies.
