Abstract

The review article describes the different types of congenital malformations of the uterus and their impact on pregnancy outcomes. The article briefly describes the characteristics of each type of birth defects of the uterus and possible pregnancy outcomes. Uterine birth defects are primarily caused by embryonic underdevelopment of the paramesonephric ducts and are associated with pregnancy complications, reduced fertility, and other adverse fetal outcomes. Women with congenital birth defects usually have poorer reproductive outcomes and a higher incidence of complications during pregnancy and delivery. Although such defects are rare, affected patients should be treated appropriately to improve psychological, sexual, and reproductive outcomes. The fertility of patients with congenital uterine anomalies depends on the severity of the condition.
